1964 Fender Bassman 2x12 Piggyback Speaker Cabinet Blonde & Gold Sparkle For 6G6-B w/ Oxford 12M6
Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Bassman 2x12 speaker cabinet in excellent condition, loaded with a pair of Oxford 12M6 speakers. This transitional Pre-CBS cabinet is an ideal pairing for a 6G6-B "piggyback" Bassman head, retaining the original smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth only seen from late 1963 into early '64. This cabinet has the necessary 23 1/2" spacing center-to-center on the thumb screw inserts on the top of the cab. This spacing makes the cab definitively for a Bassman, not to be confused with many cabs made for Bandmasters with wider thumb screw spacing.
The Oxford speakers are a matched pair with clean frames and professional recones. The stamps on the edges of the frames date to the 35th week of '64. With each speaker able to easily handle 40 tube watts, this cab has great headroom, power, and punch. The two 8 ohm speakers are wired for a 4 ohm load.
The cabinet retains all of its original hardware, with serialized Pat Pending tilt-back legs, sphinx glides (feet), nickel-plated corners and handle caps, and a raised Fender logo on the gold sparkle grillcloth.
