1962 Gibson ES-330 TDC Vintage Hollowbody Electric Guitar Cherry Collector-Grade w/ Case

1962 Gibson ES-330 TDC Vintage Hollowbody Electric Guitar Cherry Collector-Grade w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1962 Gibson ES-330 TDC in 100% original, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, finished in vibrant Cherry nitro lacquer and complete with the original hardshell case. This early example of the ES-330 is one of the very last to feature black plastic pickup covers, with nickel hardware and a rare transitional no-wire ABR-1 bridge with original nylon saddles.

Highlighting both the clarity and note attack of maple and the airy quality of the fully hollow construction, this ES-330 has a relaxed, smooth natural acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. The P-90s have a glassy quality, highly responsive to picking dynamics with a crisp percussive cut and a textured midrange character. The bridge pickup has an upper midrange-centric growl and sparkle, while the neck pickup has a silky, broad woof with great harmonic bloom when notes ring out, particularly full and potent. Featherweight at 6lbs 1oz, this ES-330 TDC benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Slender C, full shoulders, measuring .805ā€ 1st fret, .850ā€ 12th fret
-Fretboard: Brazilian rosewood, small block inlays
-Frets: Medium jumbo, moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-7
-Scale Length: 24 3/4ā€
-Nut: 1 11/16ā€, nylon
-Tuners: Kluson Deluxe single-line
-Serialization: Five-digit stamp dates to ā€˜62

Body Specs:

-Wood: Maple
-Pickups: P-90 x2, Bridge: Ā 7.85k ohms, Neck: 8.05k
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone x2, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles, trapeze tailpiece (nickel-plated)
-Plastics: Four-ply wide bevel pickguard, reflector knobs, ā€œdogearā€ pickup covers
-Factory Markings: Model stamp in bass-side f hole

The Cherry nitro lacquer is 100% original and quite glossy, completely unfaded, with no tan line beneath the pickguard. The top is extremely well-preserved, and there is very tight, vertical lacquer checking on the top, with broader, more prominent checking on the bass-side lower bout on the back in particular. Wear on the back is otherwise limited to a spot of extremely faint buckle rash central to the waist and a few additional small marks across the back and on the lower bout body edge. The smooth nitro gloss is retained on the neck, free of palm wear with only a few very minor marks on the profile length.

The original hardshell case with "large pebble" textured black exterior is included. The case retains its Gibson badge beneath the leather handle, all functional latches, and a gold plush interior. A band name has been stenciled on the case (blacked out on the lid, still legible on the bottom).
