1972 Gibson SG Pro Vintage Guitar Walnut w/ Bigsby & P-90s, Special
Up for sale, a 1972 Gibson SG Pro in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original case. This uncommon SG iteration was only produced in 1971 and ā72, introduced as part of Gibsonās early ā70s SG lineup overhaul and temporarily replacing the SG Special. Essentially a P-90 equipped version of the SG Deluxe, this SG Pro is the more desirable iteration produced near the end of the short production run, with traditional (rear-mounted) pots, eschewing the earlier large top-mounted control plate.
Weighing just 7lbs 2oz and balancing well on a strap given the subtle counterweight of the vibrato tailpiece, tonewoods include a mahogany body and three-piece mahogany neck capped with a bound rosewood fingerboard. The Gibson-stamped soapbar P-90 pickups yield glassy articulation and plenty of bite, perfect for sweet, pristine cleans and smooth-yet-aggressive overdrive alike. This SG Pro has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mikeās Guitar Bar, dialed in with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Walnut nitro lacquer finish shows some wear along the back lower bout body edge, an area of shallow buckle rash central to the back, and minor dings and finish scuffs consistent with careful use. The smooth nitro gloss on the neck profile is free of palm wear, with a few minor marks and shallow rack rash behind fret 12, none of which distracts the palm while fretting
The original chipboard case with red plush interior is included. The case features functional latches and the original handle.
